Each week the track getting the most love and air time at B R E A K T H E L O O P H Q gets a feature on the blog. This week it’s:
A little slice of folk for you this week. Jono McCleery has re-recorded Robert Wyatt’s ‘Age of Self’ (a politicised track from 1984 aimed to raise money for charity) and it still feels lyrically relevant today although perhaps within a slightly different context. Jono was born deaf, developed hearing around the age of 5 and didn’t pick up an instrument for most of his youth. With that in mind, he clearly has a natural feel for how a song should be sung and put together and this teaser makes interesting listening in advance of his new album. ‘Pagodes’ is out on Ninja Tune in about a month and you can pre-order it on itunes now, just click the image above.
