When you’re stuck in a rut and devoid of all inspiration, making a clever move can seem all but impossible, we’ve all been there and it sucks! The thing not to do though is bury your head firmly in the sand, as I myself may have been known to do in the past. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed and have so many thoughts blowing around all over the place that before you know it, you’ve done nothing!
ACTION > MOMENTUM > RESULTS > MOTIVATION
Creak into action! Take that first step, any step. It doesn’t even have to be related to what it is you’re trying to achieve (although that definitely helps), it could literally be get up and go outside for a walk, even if you really don’t feel like it. That momentum, the action of physically moving forwards, is a super powerful thing. You will most likely find yourself coming back home with a much clearer idea of what it is you need / want to do, and you will hopefully have a bit more impetus to actually do it. All because of that tiny, simple bit of action, no overthinking necessary.
So, you’ve come home or got back to the studio / office and you’ve started chipping away at your to do list. I can guarantee you that you will start seeing results right away. They might not be hugely significant, but you will see results. You’re making a statement to the Universe about what it is you want and 9 times out of 10, the Universe responds. Those results could be as simple as you seeing light at the end of the tunnel, they could be bigger – an exciting email response from that brand / person / client you really wanted to make contact with. The fact is, you’re seeing and feeling the results of your action and momentum… Now for that thing we’ve all been waiting (and working) for… motivation. Angels sing, the sun beams down on your face, you open up your mind to the possibilities that are ahead of you, you feel that hunger in your belly to get out there and achieve your goals. All because of that tiny, seemingly insignificant piece of action.
This is the most basic example but it really works, guys! The simple fact is, none of us feel motivated all of the time (wouldn’t that be a dream!) but if you can drag yourself (albeit kicking and screaming) into action then I can guarantee you will be seeing your old friend motivation again, much sooner than you think.
