So if you follow us on any social media channels you’re probably sick to death of me constantly spamming you with pictures of my recent travel escapades, more specifically the trip to Mallorca with some of my favourite girls (and their partners!). Well, I can’t promise you it will be over any time soon because we took so many pictures! However, here are some actual details on our accommodation just in case you’re on the hunt for the perfect villa holiday, trust me here… We’ve got you! We were lucky enough to stay in this luxury Clickstay villa – Finca Figural Nou situated in Alcudia, Mallorca and I’m sure I speak for the whole gang when I say, I would go back in a heartbeat!
We hired cars from the airport as the actual location was a little inland from Alcudia, only 10 minutes or so from the coast and away from the hustle and bustle. Hiring a car is the perfect way to explore this small (but perfectly formed) island, the triathlete in me also recommends hiring a bike! I didn’t actually get to do any cycling on this trip but I’m already planning a tri focused getaway out there next year. They have some of the best cycling around and as for swimming, the sea really doesn’t get much better – warm, super buoyant and with great visibility! The running isn’t half bad either with views that are just.. woahhh!
Editors note – If anyone does actually fancy the idea of a little training getaway, just drop me a note at hello@breaktheloop.net.
We pulled up to the villa and did the usual ‘Errmegehrddd look at this place‘ dance, it really is an impressive looking villa! Striking just the right balance between modern and rustic.
All of the rooms are a great size and more importantly all but one are on suite and if you do get that room you still get your own private bathroom just across the hallway.
This was the view that I was treated to at sunrise every morning from the big double doors of my ground floor bedroom… Mallorca’s landscape is just stunning.
If left to my own devices there’s the danger that I will sleep for days however I found that I woke quite naturally here, even with the heavy blackout curtains. To be honest I also just loved that part of the day, the sun rising on the most incredible vista, the whole area so peaceful and a far cry from what I’m used to in busy Brixton! I would put on a massive pot of coffee and sit outside with a book or laptop until the rest of the gang started filtering up. I purposely didn’t go to Mallorca with any writing or projects that needed completing however I was definitely getting itchy fingers during this little morning routine. Stillness inspires me no end, it’s like I suddenly have 75% more space in my head. Thoughts become more linear and what is usually a bit of a tangle becomes altogether more decipherable, how can you fail to be inspired with that view!
Onto the breakfast situation… Now I’m normally someone that doesn’t share the kitchen very well but this villa boasted the biggest kitchen area I’ve seen in a long while, well stocked with coffee machines, blenders and all the trimmings that you could possibly need, so cooking was a really enjoyable group effort. The long table outside provided the perfect place to sit and eat, especially since we got so lucky with the weather.
For anyone, who like us, loves active travel, this villa is absolutely perfect! The pool is big enough to swim laps in (just!), the grounds are big enough to run around and basically do whatever kind of workout you want in… including sprints! Built in pull-up bar, a big platform made up of two steps… Absolutely brilliant!
