I get so many questions about our coffee machine so I figured why not hop on here and give you guys a bit more info. Full disclosure – I do have an affiliate link for this machine (HERE) so if you decided to purchase one and did so using my link (thank you, by the way), just know that it won’t cost you any more, it just means that I get a few pounds for the referral. We bought our coffee machine full price and we’re not working directly with the brand or anything like that – we just genuinely love the product and given all the messages I get about it, we think you might too!
A bit about the coffee machine we chose – The Sage Barista Express. I’ll hold my hands up, we’re full-on coffee snobs so we spent ages (I had this one sat in my shopping basket for nearly 6 months) searching and deliberating over which machine to buy but time and time again we kept coming back to this one. We heard great things about it from a barista friend of ours and the reviews online were pretty stellar across the board. It’s the perfect halfway house between a massive and eye wateringly expensive, all-the-bells-and-whistles, professional coffee machine and something more affordable and compact that still produces a high-quality cup of coffee – however you take it.
Everything is adjustable on this bean-to-cup coffee machine so it might feel a little fiddly at first but there’s lots of info available so you’re not flying blind. It’s definitely worth getting to grips with because the level of customisation on the Sage Barista Express allows you to really find your sweet spot and have your morning coffee just the way you like it. You can experiment with grind settings – there are 15 – from coarse to ultrafine and because the beans are ground directly into the filter, you get the freshest cup of coffee, possible. As well that you can alter the water temperature, the amount of coffee bean used in each shot and also the amount of coffee that you end up with – a standard espresso is 30ml but you could change this to whatever suits. It also comes with a milk jug that has a handy built-in thermometer so that you don’t burn the milk for your morning cappuccino – the cardinal sin of coffee making.
It is verrry much a beloved part of our morning routine now and so I just wanted to share our honest review in case you’re in the market for your own coffee machine. Fellow freelancers and work-from-home-ers, this will change the game for you! Especially if, like us, caffeine is your lifeblood but you don’t have access to a cute, local coffee shop.
It’s currently £479 at John Lewis which I think is the lowest price you’ll find – do let me know if you find it anywhere else for less and I’ll happily update this post. Would love to know if you take the plunge and buy this awesome machine so that we can geek out over the perfect cup of coffee, together!
